Tribute for Peace Month

Since I was a kid, war is everywhere. Different level, different forms of war.  Obviously there are atrocities happening, and we witness and hear about them daily. I’m proud to  be with soldiers in promoting peace. But  when we will have peace?

I believe  promoting peace is based in hope. Peace is about hope, it’s about  compassion, it’s about love. It doesn’t mean we just go around our country or around the world holding hands, making nice conversation and having peace. But I really do believe that there’s a lot of power behind love and compassion and respecting and  listening to people. Let us go beyond  listening.  Let us forgive, forget and do what we can to spread peace around us with smile (Selflessness Motivation Inspiration Love Enthusiasm).

A simple giving of biscuit to a beggar, as we have said in Filipino, “isusubo mo na lang, ibibigay mo pa”. That is a simple way of selflessness.  You think of others before yourself. But by doing this, doesn’t mean you don’t love yourself.  You love yourself that you give it a way. Giving something won’t kill you because it goes back to you. And you know, when you are able to see people in need, sometimes you would say  to yourself, “Swerte pa din pala ako.” (I’m still lucky because I’m not in their situation.) And then there is an instinct in you that you would share what you do have to help them.

When you keep on giving a  helping  hand and  it is being appreciated by the person/s, you are being motivated.  Because within yourself, you feel satisfied and overwhelmed. The feeling of someone who help and a smile is given back is a very unique feeling. It is priceless.

Because of that feeling, you are inspired to do it again and again. And in a virus  effect, those people around you will be inspired  too. And you could be an awakening to all who used to be deaf, blind and insensitive to the needs of others.  Try not to     focus so much on needing someone, instead focus on being someone needs.

Love is a very broad word. A lot of meaning,  a lot of definition. But the bottom line is still love. And what is love?  Love is God. God is love. Whatever we do, it should all be for the glory of love, for the glory of God, not for ourselves. Always     remember , each and everyone has its own identity, uniqueness, beliefs, culture and  religion. We all have differences. Yes, differences is allowed but divisions are not. We are here on earth to be the caretakers. We are tasked to take care of the Mother Earth,  submit to one another, encourage one another, care for one another, forgive one another, and edify one another. It is written and we are commanded, “Love one  another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. All men will know that you are My disciples if you love one another. “(John 13:34, 35)

When we practice the practical acts of love by meeting the needs of others we have a basic assurance of the Spirit of God within. And when we do works of love, acts of charity, we do it with enthusiasm, with great excitement.   Ask yourself this simple question, “Am I fulfilling needs of others?” If not, wake up, transform yourself. Walk with smile.  Spread  love and peace will reign.  And you would be called as one of the protectors of Philippine sovereignty as well.
